5.56 are a bit longer case. I think it is .100 or so. 5.56 is loaded a bit hotter, due to the longer case ie) a bit more powder.
Shooting a .223 in a 5.56 shouldn’t be a problem, but the other way around, you might have pressure problems. At least you will have higher pressure shooting a 5.56 in a .223
