Yesterday, in driving rain and strong winds, my wife wanted to go walking. Her walking is a daily occurrence, no matter the weather. I cycle, but not in winds gusting to 45 mph, so I went walking with her.
Attached are two pictures of a tree that had been “attacked” by what I am guessing is a pileated woodpecker. With the wind, there was not a bird flying, so there was little hope in seeing what attacked the tree.
Any guesses if it was a woodpecker?
