No matter how I word this it's going to sound like I'm pissing on Joe's Cheerios..."BUT"...Dave Griffin made me 3 sawtooth Bowies in 1987. Thorp, Confederate, Sportsmans (9") were the "trio". All were made with the small teeth (by today's standards), had brass #18 hilts (with the holes), Red, white & blue spacers (wider than today's), black micarta handles. slab sides, #14/underneath style finger grips and wrist thongs! All had Johnny Johnson wide stitched roughbacks.
I sold all 3 to Glynn Martin (The guy that wood-burned a lot of Randall-type artistic signs) in the early 1990's. Wish I hadn't. Wish I had 'em back..."BUT"...in that time period it was not, in the least bit, unusual to get these "one-offs" done!
Joe's example is far older than mine...and, of course, that smokin' sheath but it goes to show that "one-of-a-kinds" are (sometimes) not!
Keep searchin' folks. They're out there. The Sportsmans I described surfaced a couple of years ago...Ya' never know!
Best, Capt. Chris
