$25 is a super deal

is it a calender year thing for 2012 or a Sep. 1 to Sep. 1 thing? Is this something being tracked or based on honesty of forum members?

It will run 365 days from when you pay the $25.

I'm just going to keep a spreadsheet of folks as a way to track it.

Thanks,

Rick

If I have paid the $25, does that cover the Lounge/Misc Buy/Sell section as well or is that a separate issue?

I have for sale a Mod #1-7 that I bought new from the shop. It has a tool steel blade with a highly figured Maple Burl handle that has been stabilized. The hilt is brass with RWB spacers. It hasn't been used, carried, nor re-sharpened since leaving the shop. Sheath and stone included. $545 includes shipping to CONUS and insurance. Photos to follow. Thanks for looking.
Fee Paid.

Although not listed in a for sale thread, and I had no intention of selling the knife at the time. I did sell a knife I was "showing off" in the Randall Knife of the week threads. I felt the sale was directly the result of this Forum. Therefore, I have paid a $25 selling fee for the 2018 year. Thanks, Rick T.

Best thing to do is see how other listings are done to get a feel for what's needed.
Then just select the "New Topic " button and add your information. Pictures are necessary but can be challenging at first. Review the thread on posting pictures. Hope this helps.

Hello Rick, I'm a new forum member and would like to know if I am allowed to sell sheaths on this buy and sell page? I make a number of sheaths for Randall knives including the whetstone pouch models for people who have either lost one or never had one in the first place. I understand the annual $25 fee and we'd be glad to pay it. Here is a picture of some of my work:

RickT has the final word. If it's up to me: A great big "NO"! Several states are not allowed to deal in "any" kind of ivory....and there is a better-than-good chance they could get bought from or sold to.

Rocky--

I picked up on the first inklings of the ban movement when the Fed's and the animal rights people started with it. Alerted certain key people and organizations to kick off the push-back that did eventually get some limitation on the Federal implementation, but not as effective in all the states...or it would have been much worse.

Logic had nothing to do with it...it was a rallying cry for fund raising by the rights groups, a fervent ideological movement for their "cause" and a career-enhancing strategy for the guy who was in charge of the Federal agency. He went on to a cushy job in charge of one of the larger zoological nongovernment organizations.

Selling into any of the states that have broad bans on any type of ivory (even extinct animals) could put the seller and maybe the buyer at risk...consider how a "buyer" might be part of an entrapment scheme.

Rocky...& others,
If you were, let's say set up and selling RMKs at the Blade show, you could sell an ivory knife there...as long as that buyer did not "live"...or "transport through" one of the ban states.
OK: WE, meaning the forum owners or moderators have no way to control who sells what and where in our "buy, sell, trade" forum. "If" someone violated these laws, even innocently, "WE" could be held accountable as "WE" were the vehicle for the transaction of this illegal activity and sale.
Hope this helps,
Capt. Chris

For information about selling fossil ivory, the following was found online:

States banning sale of fossil ivory: [Info posted as of July 22, 2021]

States and Countries Banning the Sale of Fossil Ivory and proposed Legislation (aaps-journal.org)

“States and Countries Banning the Sale of Fossil Ivory and Proposed Legislation

“Because of the poaching of African Elephants, many countries have banned the import of modern Ivory. Smugglers have been marking shipments of modern ivory as fossil ivory to get it past customs. Here in the United States, beginning with New Jersey and New York, state legislators have been submitting bills to ban the sale of all ivory, modern and fossil.

“While the differences between extant elephant ivory and fossil Mammoth ivory have been recognized for some time, and a good example and description can be found on the Fish and Wildlife Service page; www.fws.gov/lab/ivory_natural.php, State legislatures have simply decided to go the less expensive route and ban all ivory. This should be addressed in each state that bans fossil ivory.

AAPS cannot provide legal advice, and recomend you consult an attorney for advice on the sale of fossil ivory. Further, AAPS does not claim or warrant that this is a complete listing of ivory bans in the U.S.

The following states have proposed legislation in process. If and when bills are signed into law, we will update the links. NOTE: While we make every attempt to locate the current legislation regarding fossil Ivory, new bills and current legislation is not always easily found. By the way, It is a Scaggs big bowie, scrimmed and engraved by him. Some of you have seen it. So hypothetically, if I sold it on Gunbroker or Ebay and stated that you could not buy it nor would I ship it to the alleged states. CA, NY,WA OR, etc. Some person buys it and he transports it illegally through those states for whatever reason, Ebay or Gunbroker could be held liable along with me?
Seems reasonable ??

Just thinking...

That the states might have stayed out of it...after all, the Federal government is in charge of imports and interstate commerce, where presumably illegally imported ivory should be controlled. The Feds have the authority and the responsibility, and the states should not have to spend resources doing it for them. That does not mean that states could not call in the Feds whenever they came across something the Feds should handle.

"But"... the charitable organizations were able to raise tons of money because of the uproar they created, and they enjoyed getting their way whenever anything they supported got attention in the media and in the individual states. They paid a lot of people to carry on about saving elephants, but I don't recall that any of them took to the bush to stop poachers.

toooooo many lawyers!!
I sold my only remaining Randall with mammoth handle on eBay a couple years ago with no incidents....all I have left are a few Randall Ivory handle knives, that I assume, will not be transferred in the public eye, if at all
how socially correct we have become....While I would NEVER buy ivory from questionable sellers I do not consider Warther to be in that category....I still have a couple blocks sitting around....I almost feel like a poacher....
