Just in case there's any doubt about my photo contest entry being photoshopped, I'd thought I'd draw back the curtain so everyone could see how the photo came about.

I carry and use my #5-4 on my job. I also keep a compact camera handy to take advantage of any photo opportunities. I was checking nest boxes yesterday and saw an Eastern Lubber crawling on the box. I put my knife on top of the box and watched and waited as the lubber crawled around the box. I took several photos, but only one was contest worthy. I'm posting that photo too, so you can see what it looked like before I cropped it and sharpened it.

The funny thing is that I didn't notice until I saw the photos that the lubber was missing a hind leg.

For the longest time I've been trying to get a photo of a coral snake with my #5-4. Yesterday I almost succeeded. So close! But the camera shy snake was too fast for me. In the last photo you can see the snake in the upper left of the frame speeding away.

Thanks for the pictures, Rick!
I like them like that: un-photoshopped. Not only knives wink
And I would have found one or two other for the contest as well. The first or the sixth from the top e.g. - I like them all!!

Thanks for sharing them.

Thanks guys!

Coral snakes aren't aggressive but I treat them with much respect. I set the knife down way ahead of the snake. Then I stand well back and hope it crawls close to the knife. I'll get a good photo one of these days.

With your current job, perhaps you could carry a small Gambler or a Triathelete. Otherwise another job might be in order smile
Just kidding.
I hope to have a Triathelete project finished by the end of this year or early next year.
