I asked about the shop supplying briar because I was waiting for this model 8. The briar is better than I expected, with some flame figure and birdseye.

I like thuya, but I've never seen it with any flame grain like briar can have. Not all briar has flame, pipe guys love flame-grained briar.

In all of this thread one question has still not been answered. "NO": The RMK shop never supplied or offered Briar wood as a catalog offering. Scott will also tell you this.
Many wood-de-jours have been made at Randall that were not a catalog offering..."BUT"...(feel better already)...they have been one-offs, etc.
