I recall that the captain had a knife that was handled in stabilized pinecone, he also stated that RMK wouldn't use that material again. Wally may have gotten one from me with a full sized nickel silver double hilt. The early Norwegian blue spruce pine cone was not "dried and stabilized" properly and would "take a set", hence the Itchnay from the shop. Hope this helps, Capt.
