It just occurred to me...I have these blocks that remain in my desk, and are part of the material viewed on the knife handles....even if they were left out, in the light, when the shop shapes the handle....different colors will be reveled.

I have an example of Westinghouse micarta that is very light on one side. The other side is scrimmed, and was displayed, and it has darkenened considerably.

the knife on the left was made late 70's- early 80's? Brass and fiber spacers? Really?

Yes Chris, that is when some of the custom order pieces i.e. Friedson, Styer, Doler, started showing up. You did notice the "S" guard correct? Early to mid 80's is more likely, but not beyond that. here is a photo for your perusal.

Model 14 my friend. Not too may 14's have this grind, but they are out there. First one I saw was circa 1963-64
