Tom and Duke:

All nice!!!

I have yet to use my .44 mag on a hog but it’s just a matter of time.

Duke,
Nice pair of 44s you have there. I am with you on the heavy load stuff.
I found that the "Keith Load" of 22 grain 2400 and a 250 grain bullet a bit too much. Powered it down to 20 grains.

Shoots just fine in my Ruger Alaskan.

Coach,
What load/ammo do you plan on using for the hog hunt???

I got a box of Factory Winchester 240 grain. They seem like plenty.

If they don't do it, I have a box of 300 grain reloads that a friend gave me. There is a HUGE difference between the two!

Coach,
I would imagine that there would be a difference in both loads.

Just wondering, do both shoot to the same point of aim? I doubt it.

Wyane:

It is my "close range" gun. I carry it in my chest holster for just in case I come up on 'em close. Sooooo, the point of aim probably doesnt change much in 10-20 yards.

I also carry a .223 or .308 for further out shots.

Yessir! Diamond D. It’s awesome.

I got one for my Alaskan and another for my 1911.

Under-gunned for the occasion...

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...res-4-dogs.html

Training for the Iditarod, attacked by a moose...

She carried a .380...and found it insufficient to stop the animal.

Now says she will carry a larger caliber...but does not say what that is.

Larry,
Probably a 38 spl.

The sled dog racers on the trail have been attacked numerous times over the race history.

Of course, weight is a big factor on the trail but you have to plan for the worst.
