Michael, there is always room for another opinion when you have an open mind. I appreciate both threads. No offense intended for anyone.

Jerry,
I asked this exact question quite a few years ago to "GTR" and his answer was basically: "You've got to stop somewhere". That's as far as it went...and probably as far as it "will" go. I know from personal ordering experience that abbreviations for blue and black have been mixed up (or probably mis-typed) and the wrong spacers got put on a knife. At any rate: With one bad news comes a good news. The aluminum and brass spacer options more than offset the missing "all" colors and really dress up a knife, in my opinion and the opinion of hundreds of customers I have taken such orders for. Hope this helps.
Best, Capt. Chris

PS: A trip down memory lane: My "Trout and Bird" in dressed stag and all blue spacers...CCS

I just posted this knife is the #22 thread, but thought someone might want to know about and see this handle material. It's red & blue laminated micarta and is Randall shop-supplied. It is available for small and medium size Randall knives. It is shown here with aluminum & red spacers, crow's beak butt cap, wrist thong, nickel silver single hilt, thumb notches, stainless blade and a black "no hone" pocket sheath.
Best, Capt. Chris

Beautiful knife Capt., Thanks for posting.

I believe you told me in a previous conversation that even though the Model #22 came standard with black micarta the knife could be ordered with other colors of shop supplied micarta for a nominal upgrade charge. If I remember correctly you said a switch to Maroon micarta would be a $15 upgrade charge. Is that still accurate? and how about this red/black material you have shown or the new white Ivorite material. What substitutions are available and what would be the upgrade charge?

Thanks again for the info and photos. A Model #22 is in my future

I believe all micartas of equal value are an even swap Tom. This knife charged out at $480.00. Standard knife is $435.00, "plus" $15 for a wrist thong, "plus" $10 for metal spacers, "plus" $20 for the black sheath upgrade equals $480.00. "No" extra charge for the red/blue.
Best, Capt. Chris

Thanks for the post Cap.
It's because of information gleaned from one of your posts that I ordered a Model 19 with this micarta in a Model 22 handle shape.

Capt.,

This isn't an ordering question, but seemed like the best thread to ask it in. On customer supplied handle materials (stag is what brought this question to mind), how does/will the shop know when a knife is built using shop supplied vs customer supplied in say 5-10 years down the road? With the knives having a lifetime guarantee on shop supplied handle material, it makes me wonder.

Thank-you for your help on these questions.
