Pappy, that's an interesting handle shape, is it the standard straight handle?

To be honest, I didn't request any different handle shape, so assume it is straight, although it doesn't look perfectly straight, but that may be why no Randalls are exactly the same. Maybe Scott could chime in. I just know, this is one gorgeous Model 5-8. Very proud to own it.

No guesses on the options on my 5-8? Ok here they are:

Model 5-8" Camp and Trail
Stainless steel blade
Saw teeth
Thumb notches(no charge)
Square top brass hilt(no charge)
Scalloped brass collar
Thuya burl wood handle, shop supplied
Scalloped brass "coolie" butt cap
Waxed, no hone leather sheath

Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks to Dave Harvy, Nordic Knives, Boise, Idaho to make it happen.

Hey Pap, #1 handle shapes with a scalloped buttcap are a little difficult to keep as a standard straight handle because the scallops are put in before shaping and we have to make sure we maintain the edges so as not to grind off them off...also because of how close we shape the front to the collar it tends to be a bit of a "rounded off" look and feel...this handle actually inspired one of the shop employees so much that he placed another order for himself!!

TWO more favorites!
I think that #5 is my most carried Randall.
The Speedmaster is vintage, 1969, so I don't wear it to often.
But ... often enough! smile
