...when I got down in my creek bottom.

Here is a WILD HONEY BEE HIVE.

There is always one or two down there every year. They are usually 30-50 feet off the ground or in a "holler" on an oak or gum tree.

This one is about 8 feet off the ground on a limb of a Bois 'd arc (Boardark) tree!

Never seen anything like that before Coach. There's lots of folks here who have box beehives but nothing wild like you have. Pretty awesome sight.

That's all kinds of awesome.

Between the bodark softballs and the honey, the ground beneath that tree would be quite messy to walk on.

It has been a while but yes, I’ll be able get to this one.

Usually the hives are so high up or inside a tree and we can’t get to it.

Wild honey is the best, if you can get to it. Best time is on a very cool night with the smoke. Or, get a bee keeper to find the queen and move the hive group to another location.

Coach,
Wild, raw honey has a lot of health benefits.

Most diabetics can tolerate honey but not sugar.

Honey (raw) is also a very good antiseptic. I used it on the open wound on my diabetic foot. Healed right up.

Thanks Wayne.

I’ve got a Beekeeper right down the road from me. He is also an amateur knifemaker.

I texted him a picture and he said we could get ‘em during the holidays.

Any chance of getting some actual raw homey?

Again, I never know what I might see.

Last night, took a four-wheeler ride and saw this guy. We have several and listening to them hoot, laugh, and scream at night is one of the reasons, my wife wanted to build a house back here in the woods.

We hear them every night, but actually seeing them is rare.

Sorry for the poor picture, but I took it with my cell phone with my head lamp for lighting.
