For now yes but getting better daily. Will probably always need readers. You can if your wallet insists on getting a no glasses lens. No insurance will cover it. Insurance won't cover the laser assisted surgery part either including Medicare.
Warren, My Father in law had laser surgery when he was 72 after wearing glasses since the 1st grade. He had perfect vision after the surgery but felt naked without his glasses on. He ended up putting clear glass in his frames. He wore those until he passed at 83.

There is a sense of security knowing you have something protecting your eyes. My work puts me in shops near machinery every day. Safety glasses and side shields are a must.
There was a sign in front of a laser display at the University of Wisconsin. It read "Do not look directly into laser with your one good remaining eye."
My 20/10 vision has needed readers since I was 45. Working towards 1.75 currently.
