I am meeting the seller on Sat morning. We have agreed on a price that would be quite reasonable if it legit. I believe that the sheath is not correct for a 12-9 without the #14 grind, but the knife fits it and I don't mind that. Any concerns if this is a real Randall? Thank you

The knife is real! The sheath I believe normally comes with the 12-9 #14 Grind. The top of the sheath is curved to fit the hilt when it is in. Great knife!

I don't have any reason to think it isn't legit, but I have very little experience with Randall's and I just wanted some feedback to be safe. It's a private seller.
I hadn't really noticed the subtle curve on the sheath.
I picked up a 1-8 Stag a while back in a trade and really fell in love with RMK's. This one came up and I'd really like to have it. I appreciate the feedback. It will be coming home with me this weekend.
I picked it up today. It's a gorgeous piece! Doesn't appear to have been used at all or re-sharpened. The seller said that the person from whom he purchased it said it was stainless. Obviously, there is no "S" stamped on it. Either way, I'm really happy with the purchase, but I am curious of the blade composition. Without the "S" is it definitely tool steel?

It has a Tool Steel blade!
The model 12-9 #14 Grind is the biggest knife that is made in Stainless Steel. The normal model 12-9 Sportsman Bowie has always been made in tool steel. I wonder why they don't make this knife also in SS? They are both 9" long an 1/4 inch thick.
Maybe it has to do with the difference in shape of the 12-9 #14 Grind blade and the "normal" 12-9. It could be that it is more difficult or not possible, to make the 12-9 out of the SS that Randall buy's to hammer their 12-9 #14 Grind out of???
