Pap,
Smart cards by having that generator. I have a Hondathat I would take out and start up to provide power.

I take it out about once every three weeks and run it. Drain the tank twice a year and fill up with fresh gas as well as some Startron. The extra fuel goes into the vehicles and gets refilled.

Obviously a lot more work than your set up but it works for me.

Lori,
I hope all goes well for you.

Wayne

Left home with single-digit temps and drove through a headwind to get to Colorado.

Little 135hp 4cylinder engine in the old 4Runner got a lot of WOT action on that trip. There were sections where we couldn't even get up to 60mph in 4th gear with the throttle down.

Here in Evergreen, the mountain roads were snow-covered on Friday but it warmed up enough Saturday to clear them out.

Evergreen was clear starting Christmas Eve evening and got clearer/dryer along the way.

Until Wednesday afternoon, that is. Then it started snowing.

And it kept snowing.

By 7:30p the weather app on our phones said "sever winter storm warning" and there was at least four inches of snow on the ground.

Wife and I got up at 0500 (5:00 a.m. for you non-military types) to pack and head out. It had stopped snowing by then. Plans were to be on the road by 0700 but I had a minor issue with the rear glass on the 4Runner being frozen stuck to the rubber trim. Some "stop freeze" juice and 15mins of fiddling finally got it free so that we could load the back of the vehicle.

The pleasant side effect of that was the sun was fully out by the time we hit the road.

Here's what our morning drive yesterday looked like as we were coming down out of the mountains.

Our oldest went out a bit later that day and measured 11" of snow on the deck railing. The official measure for Evergreen was 14.5" of snowfall.

Winter wonderland here now.

Yesterday morning it rained and would freeze as soon as it hit something, like the windshield. Then it turned to sleet. Here's what it looked like when the wife unit decided to drive home from work shortly after lunch.

During the day and overnight, it dropped more off'n'on. Here's what it looks like now.

David,
Hope that you recovered from the heat stroke and are doing OK.

Maybe you should move to the far north where there is little chance of heat stroke???

Nope, stay down by the Keys and enjoy.

Hah, so we got more sleet and whatnot Tuesday, and then "spike snowflakes" fell yesterday which filled in a lot of the gaps and made it rather slick.

Last night a lot of Texas got freezing rain, including us. All this did was glaze the top. Now we have a house in the middle of a 1-acre ice rink with an ice rink for a street out front.
