AG & Goldie bought, now and then, from me. I had my hand on AG when we all stood and posed for the iconic "Blade Show Dealer Photo". A.G. Russell did a lot...a "LOT" for the knife business.
To AG, I bid you "Fair Winds"
Respectfully submitted,
Captain Chris Stanaback

I recall 2 years ago at Blade. Spent some time speaking with AG in the BMK booth. I believe his brother was with him. Glad I had the opportunity to speak with him.
Along with his dealer Randall, I have one of his club knives, a folder from years ago.
In a recent post I mentioned I was taking my AG Randall in the field this year. Hope I get the chance to use it as tribute to his legacy.

Very sad news indeed. In the 80s and 90s, way before the internet, I remember how exciting it was to receive the latest Cutting Edge catalog with the small black and white photos of each knife "Available For Immediate Delivery". The good old days. smile

RIP, Mr. Russell and condolences to the family.

I bought many knives from him starting in the early 1980's. A definite giant in the knife world and will be truly missed.

AG and Goldie are icons of the knife world.
AG encouraged and supported many of the new and long-time knife makers.
A true gentleman and I will miss his wise advice and perspective.
Condolences to his family, the fine people at the store, and to the knife community that respected him.
