Attention to anyone who has current business with me. I am in a lot of turmoil, right now! I'll explain: I have been on the road (for 8 1/2 days) to, at and from Tulsa, Ok. During this time I sent 2 checks to customers from my Hotel in Tulsa. The checks never arrived. Last night and early this morning...I found out "why".
The letters were stolen, opened and my bank routing numbers and checking account #'s were hacked! Over a thousand dollars was spent, at my expense, at locations like Target, in Tulsa and The Osage Casino, also in Tulsa....SO FAR!!!
I was at my bank for 2 hours, this AM, and my checking accounts (That I have had for over a decade) have been closed. new ones opened, etc., etc... Regions Bank is working on the fraud case...."BUT"....(This time, there's a "REAL" but) I have no ability to:
* Click-N-ship my sold orders
* Deposit funds from my Paypal account
* Pay me bills
* Receive any funds, via credit cards
Some of these problems will get cleared up..."BUT"...(Ah...another one) not for now, not for this week or weekend and, in the case of Paypal and the credit card carriers, not for 10-11 days! This is financial suicide for the short term.
I want to apologize to anyone effected by this. Please call if you feel you have to. Otherwise: Hang in there! It'll get ckeared up.
Thanks for your understanding.
Capt. Chris

Very sorry for the troubles Captain. Certainly does give me second and third thoughts about sending checks in the mail. Hope you get through this as quickly as possible.

Sorry all this is happening Cap. There is a lot of attention paid to on line security and being "hacked", but the easiest hack is the mailbox on your curb. Anyone can drive by in seconds and snatch your mail..... credit card statements, bank statements, mortgage info and more.

Paperless statements are safer in most cases. When I lived on a street, I had a locking mailbox. Mailman could drop mail in, but a combo was required to open it. A PO box is even safer.

Good luck Cap,

sorry to hear that! I have had the same thing happen, and it is terrible. There are shit birds out there that are lower than Whale shit and there always will be. It will be better soon and everyone that knows you and that have done business with you, know that you are a honest and upfront guy. Everyone understands and you have nothing to worry about from your friends, and customers.
take a deep breath, keep the faith and God Bless.

Question.

Which of your many, many knives are you gonna use to castrate that P.O.S. when you catch him???

Had it happen to me about 5 years ago. Major pain in the A$$.

Capt. Chris--

Sorry to hear you were hit.

Theft of mail is getting to be "big business" for some people. In Ohio, thieves are stealing mail from the blue drop boxes, modifying the checks to change the amounts and the "pay to," and cashing them. These drop boxes are usually in locations where less affluent people find them convenient, but so far the thieves don't seem to be as sophisticated as whoever stole your checks.

I would think law enforcement could track the electronic trail of whoever stole from you--but will they bother?
