Yes RAN…I am talking to you. I have a goal…a personal goal…But before I tell you that goal I must show/ask you something.

Does this do anything to you?

Yes John indeed it does stir some emotion but I'm not sure its appropriate to describe the sensation happenng in my nether regions

I confess I have not always been a huge fan of bullet knives
I adore the patterns and the antique bone is as beautiful and precious to me as absolutely any other material

Silly as this may sound I find the shield throws me off just
enough...(though I am kicking myself for passing on a sweet stag 1123)

but I am warming rather quickly ..keep posting images like these you'll have a bit more compitition in the pit!

The Remington Bullet…especially this pattern, kept me awake at night when I first got around them. When you mention you weren’t “that wild about Bullets” it was like sticking a bamboo shoots up my finger.. So maybe, just maybe, I can show you some cool knives and you can at least say…Hey..I kinda like those bullets now.

Around the 1920’s…like 1922 the R-1128 (cocobolo) first appeared and the others followed in its path. I think the Remington company was cranking out somewhere like 10,000 knives a day at their peak. The Bullets where the cream of the crop…They made these knives up until 1940.

What it would be like to see mint ones of these in a hardware store..that really sounds like a cool time to live. Harley-Davidson was in it infancy and you could purchase a Thompson Sub Machine gun ..Mail Order!

Ok ..ring the bell

Then in 1982 Camillus produced a R-1123 Bullet for the Remington corporation for one year. This started a whole new ball rolling. A ball was rolling, but for many of us it was not the same ball. They were nice knives but the bone was not bone…and the steel was not carbon and very soft, and they defiantly did not have the same walk and talk. I believe the EPA put the smackdown on the dying process of “killer” Bone…and that's why today it’s hard to get that phenomenal color of the old bone…so they choose to put “plastic” on as scales. Oh the shame!

Enough about the knife….Something else came out in 1982 that hit home for me…more than the knife. An artist, L.W. Duke, painted a painting called “Bad time for a Snag”, a sales promo for the knife. What a great scene and made me feel as though I had to have a R-1123.

Nine posters in all, one each year, with different Bullets depicting how a Bullet can save your life…Great Stuff!!! Hope you like this one as much as I do. Am I getting anywhere here?

A book by Mel Brewster, “Remington Bullet Knives” is my source. It’s a nice little book that shows all the knives and posters.

Anyone got any pics of a original R-1143 (no.13 in the Bose catalog) or a pic of a Bose R-1143...I like the simple lines of that pattern its similar to a Backpocket.

When it comes to bullets…many people have attempted to make “their” version or reproduction. I have seen some of these things…and they have scared me! All I can say when I see them is…“that's just wrong”.

I am not trying to offend any makers here…but I just have a fondness for accuracy of bullets. You can’t make these better!

When it comes to reproducing these fabulous knives…no one does it better that the guys in Wilfred Indiana. So…with that in mind…Are you ready to see a work horse?

Thanks John for the chart very informative. The R1615 Bullet Fishing Knife with the pyremite scales would be the rarest Bullet knife. I haven't ever seen one or know any body that has. I know you just mis typed but the bone scaled Lockback Bullet is R1303. There's 2 variations of the Stag Scaled R1306 one has a single scale pin near bolster, the other has 2 the one with 2 pins has thumb groves on top of the blade. You probably already know this about them. I have a couple original Bullets, and a 1173 Baby Bullet by Reese. My originals sure are not as pristine as yours, congrats to you on them...
