Stainless steel worked it's way into the forge at Behring Made, and this musk ox pruning knife is razor sharp proof that James knows exactly what he's doing with it. Many of you have been inquiring about SS, and now is the time to pitch those ideas our way. Enjoy!

Really nice work, James!
Great that you could do, what the customers want!

For myself ....
I still prefer your tool steel!
Same as with my Randall´s!

I'll stick with carbon, but i'm sure stainless will be a big hit.

The price may seem a bit steep..."BUT"...(I know...I know)...here's the difference. I am, by no means, defending James-n-crew. They have the ability to do that themselves. Comparing this knife to some previous ($295-$375) listing on their website doesn't take into consideration:

* Added expense of the stainless blade stock
* Time constraints, versus carbon forgings
* PLUS...It's a FULL MUSK OX handle!
Big difference, verses a spacer, when you start buyin' this stuff! I'm glad these guys are forging stainless blades. Being a Florida boy, I have learned, first hand, about rust and corrosion.
Keep it up gang!
Best, Capt. Chris
PS:..."PLUS"...It was the very "FIRST"...

Capt. et al,

I apologize if my earlier post was taken the wrong way or was a poorly constructed question on my part... I realize the price asked is 100% the decision of the seller and will be found to be either acceptable or not by the free market.

I am also a Florida resident and have a perpensity to choose Stainless Steel over 01 tool steel when the choice is offered.

The purpose of my poorly constructed question is simply : Given two knives that are identical other than one being Stainless and the other tool steel how much more would the SS knife cost.

On the Randall website Stainless option is either :

3 1/4" - 5 1/2" blade and Model 9 – $45.00

Or

5 3/4" - 8" blade – $55.00

I could not find such info on the "Behring Made" website.

Again I apologize if offense was taken from my previous post... none was intended!

I am a real D-2 fan. I once skinned an entire bear including the paws and never had to sharpen. Never had another blade material be able to do that.

Valid point and valid question. I was only pointing out that, unlike the Randall catalog comparison, this knife offers full exotic handle material...verses partial or non-exhitant exotics on some less expensive Behring Namde Knives. No offense taken or questioned...just the facts.
Also: Stainless at a $65.00 option on a #12-9", #14 grind..
Best, Capt. Chris
