Very Nice Hans!
Some cool folders there!
That top one ... is it an auto opener? Like a switch blade?

Tom,

thatīs a No-Name-Damast-Folder with bone-handle. I got it from a friend who bought it in France.

Itīs a really good knife but a little bit to large/heavy for a pocket knife. If I take it with me, iīll carry it in a belt-pouch.

Here are a few old buddies that we could find after our house fire 1/2011. Lost many more, and salvaged @20 that Tom Enos and Hugh Wright (Both former Randall shop guys) cleaned and rehandled! Then.. I met Captain Stanaback at an O'ville show, then Perry Miller... 2 stock sales and one Blade Show in Atlanta and here we are. I have more pics of fire and before /after on some of the survivors but are too big to post. Will compress and post later!

Seeing those burned up knives makes me ill. How sad. Bet your insurance didn't cover them either.

No injuries to us or firefighters! Dawg-Kids-Wife & Life.... We're very fortunate! Definately a life changer.

Insurance wise... they were fair as they were personal knives. To this day we remeber things that we never got on the list.

Ah well.... we're still in the game and now have fewer but sweeter knives. (still miss the ones grandpa gave to me!)

Steve, so sorry about the fire, but so glad everyone was o.k. Are you a hunter that used/uses folding hunters? Maybe a replacement laying around somewhere you could put to use, although sounds like you're well on the way with your Randalls, and I'm not trying to sell you anything .
Best to you and your family!

Duke, yes we all hunt... fish... escape... hike... live! I did use some of the folders, some were collectors like a Buck 110 25th anniversary all tricked out w/ turquois, mother of pearl +++ and had a 11 set collection of Schrades that were given out by one of the oilfield companies back in Louisiana. My wife actually collected those for me. A couple of those survived now with new handles and another story to go with them. Actually the fire has put me in this position with a lot of new friends and opportunities! Everday is a blessing, so get in the woods!

Nice Tony! Thing is all 3 of those(and other Rem. models) feel amazingly solid, are absolutely well made and,to me at least, feel great in the hand, pocket or sheath as daily, hiking, hunting or kayaking users. Assume that you do carry these sometimes in your outdoor adventures?

Thanks Duke!
And yes, I have and do carry these at different times.
Had the middle one ... The Tracker, with me at the skeet range today.
I usually carry one of these on the weekends and on hikes.
They ARE very solid, stainless blades and made in the U.S.A., feel great in the hand, opened or closed.

I see in your pic you have this 3 folders near on photo without handles. If you want I can rehandle one of those for you .
For no charge. Just let me know

I am so sorry about your loss. Although we lost no lives, we are changed in many ways. House Fires are kind of like cancer, until someone close to you goes through it, you'll never know it's impact.

Very thoughtful on the handle offer, but at this point we are trying to be like the kangaroo..... They can only jump forward, so on we march!

Thanks again for sharing!

Saw Tony mention a Spyderco on the canoeing thread and thought I'd throw them out there! 3 survived the fire. Police Model, top Civilian, and the mini. Mini was damaged, original wood was Cocobola, replaced w/ Thuya by Hugh Wright. Always loved a good Spyderco for doing my nails!!!

Well, my wife finally got me to go to Austin, Texas and I told her if I went, that I had to go to the Texas Surplus Store that sells ALL of the confiscated knives in the state of Texas airports and sells them to the public. I went through a whole bunch of bins(took me 2 hours steady) and came out with the following:

1) Benchmade-Osborne Design, 154CM "assisted" folder. Not a switchblade, but if you start to open it, it flips on it's own. Really nice shape, not sure of value, but has to be more than what I paid.

2) Two almost new Leatherman's, one "regular" and one Juicer

3) Two Buck "303", with 2 different marks afterwards. Not a Buck person, but these were minty, so I bought them.

4) Two Buck "309T" smaller folders in mint condition

5) One Buck "305-I" small pocket knife, mint

6) One Case "USA" 3 dot # 6333 SS, appears unsharpened

7) 4 Swiss-Tech "Utili-Key", Patents Pending, which were the first one's made and the very best steel. A great addition to your key ring. I have gone many miles on airplanes with this Utili-key not being detected by airport security, but appears this design may pass the new test and it would be a great one to have.

All the above totaled $192 with tax. If you ever get to Austin, Texas, make sure you stop at the Texas Surplus Store, it will blow your mind.

Pap

PS- If any Buck collectors are interested in anything, let me know.

Not sure about that for other states, but Texas keeps all of the "illegal" sharp objects including about 4 huge boxes of kitchen knives that I never got to look at.
