My Randall Fireman is one of my favorite Randall knives. Very stout knife.
Then I bought this Lynn Search and Rescue from Miles and wow!
5.25 inch blade of 5/16. Makes the Randall look diminutive. Already ordered another one as a full tapered tang with nickel hardware and ironwood. Thanks Miles!!

I wonder how far back the tang reaches on this one? If it is real heavy...I'll bet it stays stout and for a long ways toward the butt end of the handle.
Interesting design: Almost a "modified Tanto"...
Thanks, Capt. Chris

Capt:

Lynn told me the tang extends 3/4ths of the way back. The one he is making me will go all the way back and taper to reduce the weight.

Has a Chisel point on it. Probably could break bricks with it.

Peter:

You are killing me. What does it cost to come look at your knife collection?

Doug,
That Lynn is a tough looking brut but the Randall Fireman is a much better
looking knife... in this Art Director's opinion! grin

Tony:

Agree but the one I ordered will be gorgeous in ironwood. Can't get the Fireman in any wood. If I could get Randall to build a knife for me it would be a Fireman with a 5 inch blade and more handle options. Would be fabulous.

Just dreaming'

So just cause I'm bored and Tony is a good sport....

First photo is Lynn S & R on the Left and Randall Fireman on the Right
Second photo is blade width of Randall in front of Hilt - 0.236 inches
Third photo is blade width of Lynn in front of Hilt - 0.326 inches

So if I have to use my knife as a pry bar, which one do I need?

Just havin' fun...

If that's all you have and someone's gonna die, YES!

After I save them they will of course purchase a new, better knife for the next save!

I knew I would get an appropriate response from Tony!

Yah, but he's not a very smart one. Who would ever use a rescue knife as a pry bar?

That made my day!

Great idea.

I clearly need to shoot some skeet with a guy that thinks like you.

From the looks of it, your Lynn knife would outlast a pry bar. grin

I do love my Fireman. And check out my " not very good"pictures under the " Fireman" listing in the Randall pic. thread--- double hilt and border patrol handle looks familiar. You can't make it much stronger.

According to an extremely sketchy resource(my memory) there was one listed along with the few others that were still on Rhett's "Randall's For Sale" website until it was taken down a few weeks following his death. I never bought anything from his website----just enjoyed looking at the different models that he chose to list; seems like that particular Fireman may have been 10-12k. I enjoyed much more visiting him and Janie in their store and did buy my first Randall there. It did not cost 10-12k. Still miss that gentleman.
