MATCHING PAIR--#1-6 & #1-8 FIGHTING KNIVES

--Ivorite Commando Handles

--Brass Hardware, Flared Caps w/Black & Brass Spacers

--Stainless Steel Blades w/ Sawtooth Grind

--Set is Completed with OUTSTANDING Custom Gutcher Sheaths of Grey Elephant Hides

--Greg told me these hides were the hardest to sew of any hides. Most are "pressed" to make them easier to sew, but these have all original ridges/valleys, etc. He was apologetic that due to toughnes, stitching isn't his ususal "perfect straight lines". These are incredible sheaths. No apologies needed at all.

HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY THIS SET

I am expecting a model one, soon, with an ivorite handle. I have read about various past ivorites, including alternative ivory, Westinghouse micarta that turned from white to,yellow ( I have one of those from the 70s) and others. Can anyone tell me what the current ivorite is likely to do?

While at the shop this past January, I spoke with Gary about the new 'ivory micarta' they are using. Apparently, there were some quality consistency issues that had to be resolved to his satisfaction before the material would become a regular offering. He was very excited about its future availability and optimistic that it would serve their purposes and meet customer demands for this type of handle material.

He explained they had to have the assurance that the white would not change color and that material removal during final shaping and finishing did not produce defects in the material. I assume all RMK quality assurance standards were met or exceeded or they would still be searching.

I was so impressed with the appearance, I liberated two knives: a #5-6" SS and a #11-5" SS that just 'happened' to be in the display case during my visit! Had I not seen the ivory micarta in person, I would not have been drawn to it. But, it produces very handsome knife handles indeed!

I hope this helps.

Thanks! Exactly the help I was hoping for. I envy you your shop visit, something I have not been able to do since the 70s. I was always able to liberate something from the showcase then myself.

Pictures of the freed prisoners would be gratefully appreciated. Regards.

I'll add photos of my ivory micarta handled knives soon.

Please accept my apologies in advance for the delay. (It will be a day or two until I can conjure the necessary backdrop worthy of these beauties!)
