Capt., Jimmy, recieved the knife today. First impression it will be a excellent camp and hunting knife. Hunting season starts 11-12-2011. I hope to have more feed back after the hunting seasons are over. Thanks again, Walt RKS#5924

Jimmy knives are very well made, easy to get sharp and stay sharp. I field dressed two White Tails, then touched up the edge onthe stones and field dressed two more. I also skinned all four. Now it is time to buther and make burger, sausage, and steaks. Walt RKS#5924

Here are a couple more blades that I started today. I have some more file work and sanding to do. The handles will be the stabilized spalted sycamore in the background. It will also have a single brass hilt with brass butt cap.

Do you use a particular brand of file to make your knives?

I'm thinking of starting up knife making too.

Probably not from China and you'll be ok.

Rob,
I look for USA companies for my files. I go to the local flea markets around here and usally get them out of old rusty tool boxes. The price is anywhere from .50 to 1.00 most of the time.

Pappy if it is from China or Pakistan, they will not be bought or used by me.

Yep, I figured that coming from a patriot like you. I would think old tools at garage sales or auctions that have mid 1900 USA files would be some of the best. Sorta like old man Rudy Ruana started with Studebaker leaf springs. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, I figured the Chinese ones would be garbage steel, I hadn't thought of Pakistani ones though. I'll avoid them too, I imagine any third world country's product is inferior steel as well.

It's going to be hard to find anything made in the U.S.A. nowadays.
