Black Phenolic handle, 3 Micarta spacers, aluminum hardware, 440C 6" blade, old style swivel sheath - made in California, circa 1979. smile

Very nice photography, Tom. Thank you. smile
And a nice knife, too. One of these days I'll find mine and take a pic...

Thanks Peter. Any idea what year your 119 was made?

Not exactly. I think I bought it in 1981/82 in the PX here.

Those dates would make the steel 425M.

Ok, I'm not a big fan of Buck knives but I love the photo! The hat, shirt, pants, belt and buckle are great. It reminded me of the Sunday BBQ with the handguns. You have done it with the knife, which is great.
On another note, I saw a photo you did with the Randall model 18 with the Demo pocket knife and I believe they were on a black shirt...Great photo! And they both deserve and belong together! smile

Thanks again Raymond. I only collect Bucks that are pre-1980, as this is the cut off for 440C blades, old-style grinds, 4 Micarta spacers instead of 2, and flap sheaths. As with Randalls, there are subtle differences in Buck knives from different eras.

Tom, I didn't forget, of course wink
Here is mine, bought in the PX in HD around '81. It spent all the time in the drawer frown

That's a beauty, Peter. How can anyone not like the shape of that blade!?! Your knife was made after the switch from 440C to 425M. 1981 was the switch date and your blade has a full hollow grind. The early knives, with 440C, have a semi-hollow grind with a thick convex edge. Here's a photo of my 119 that shows the thicker edge.

Great photography, BTW. smile

Thank you, Tom. Interesting enough I never used it. It's a very nice knife smile
