I took a 3 hour 4-wheeler ride yesterday and took around 100 pictures.

This is a SPECIAL time in our Woods!

Here are 8 for you to look at and enjoy.

Really nice pictures Coach. Do you have a good mast year?

Pap:

I don't know how it happened, but as hot and dry as it was this Summer, we ended up with an above average acorn crop and a decent pecan and pignut crop.

We also had a few berries and some really sweet grapes and muscadines.

Beautiful fall colors there Coach. Pretty spectacular here too. I built our home smack dab in the middle of a hardwood forest in 1989. Cleared enough trees to safely build and this year has been #3 as far as the best mast production in 33 years. And that includes all of ‘em (far as the critters are concerned); all of the oaks, hickories, chinquapins and black walnuts.
The other two great mast years were when we had pre-schoolers and toddlers running everywhere and they were always busting their behinds, trying to play and kick whatever kinda’ ball. Like playing on 2” deep marbles poured out. I can really picture what the ground covered with chestnuts would’ve looked like in the early 1900’s when my grandpa hauled horse drawn wagon loads to town to sell.

Thanks to ALL, but its my pleasure!

I have some more today. The swamp that I drained last Summer has filled back up and is FULL of Mallards, Wood Ducks, and a few Canvasbacks.

The Ag Teachers have already hit it and say they appreciate the road I cut through when it was dry.

The local Game Warden paid me a visit on Sunday and brought me some sausage from last year. He didn't ask to go but I told him that I expected him and all of the other Game Wardens to be patrolling that swamp in Camo with their dogs & shotguns on a regular basis.

He shot back quickly that they had already talked about it.
