My first weekend at College was Labor Day Weekend 1974.
I was already a fan but this was a real indoctrination!
It was held about 20 miles west of Nacogdoches, a mile or two off of a dirt road down in the woods.
This poster line up is not complete since several others including Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt just "showed up" and they let 'em sing.
How many of ya'll like this kind of music?

ZZ Top, Santana, and Bad Company,et.al. had a concert that same weekend at Memorial Stadium in Austin with over 80,000 in attendance.
Still, there were 20-30,000 at this one!

Coach,
Rusty Weir is listed twice on the event notice you posted. As far as I'm concerned that is warranted. I saw Rusty perform many times when I worked in Austin. The last time I saw him was at the Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas in August 2007.
Too bad Guy Clark was not on the playbill.
Guy Clark and me circa 1998.

Rusty Weir was the first singer on Friday afternoon.
Actually it was he and Jimmy Buffet to get things started.
Care to guess what the first song was?

Ken Burns has had a series on Country music history this past week. It's been an excellent series but #7 deals with Texas music and had about 15 minutes on Guy Clark. Highly recommended.
