Today, for the first time, I sat down to put on jeans, and I made "grandpa noises" while sitting down and getting up.

I'll blame it on the fact I've been moving, but being 50+ doesn't help.

Rob,

A very wise but passed friend told me years ago that after 50 you go into 5 year intervals. Every 5 years things get a little bit different. It's a mathematical way of aging. He hit the aging theory.

I agree, and I think that starts earlier than 50. frown

Right after my 40th birthday, I needed reading glasses for some things. Right after my 45th, they were no longer optional for anything close.

Speaking of sight, getting double cataract surgery this month. My vision fell way off this year, it was a just a matter of when. It'll be good to shed the specks.

Scott,

I've opted for the LENSX laser, (Laser- Assist Refractive Cataract Surgery) and not the standard blade procedure. It's $1500/eye over and above deductables and insurance doesn't cover. I will be getting a standard lens which probably means readers. There's a menu of choices including multi-focal lenses. All depends on your wallet.

Here's a YouTube link to the procedure.

"Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer to the end you get, the faster it goes."

That's from an old Texas Aggie, my dad. He was full of those sayings. I miss him.

When Clint Eastwood was making the movie "The Mule" he told Toby Keith the way he says young is that "he does not let the old man in".

Keith wrote the song that played at the end of the movie and named it that.
