Since Lucille had her stroke 2 years ago, I used our old Airstream, Silver Sausage, when I stayed in Boise. But now that she has been home for a year, and not much chance of us using it in the future, my Grandson Bradley Allen, wanted to buy it. I agreed and then offered him my truck, Chico, too, since I wasn't pulling the Sausage any more. I offered him the truck too. So we made a deal and they stay in the family, but still was emotional to see them go. Lots of great memories in those rigs.

Great picture, Mike, of an obviously happy young man who'll keep adding memories & stories to his grandparents camping rig. Good way to go my friend.

Pap,
How old is the Airstream?? Looks to be in perfect condition.

Glad to see stuff like that stay in the family where it will be properly cared for.

The Airstream is a 2002 Classic with a slide out. They only made 84 with slides from 2000-2009. I did a lot of upgrades on it and yes, it is better than when it was born. I've had many different travel trailers, but the Airstream is the "Randall" of the bunch. Bradly will probably be the youngest Airstream owner at 23, since most Streamers are old farts.

Fortunately Pap, as Bradly continues in his training with you, the Grand Master with no equal, he will develop into a truly outstanding, world class Old Fart in his own right.

Pap,
Wasn't the Airstream the first of the camper/trailers?

It always seems to me that they were always around but I could be wrong.

Old farts? Nope!! We are "more experienced" than all the others.

Not the first travel trailers, Wally Byam started Airstream in 1937. A subsidiary made Avion trailers and cabover campers for a while also.

Pappy,I grew up in Sarasota Fl.in the 60's, just a couple blocks from the fair grounds.every year the airstreams would roll in for a rally.not sure how many would come but it was alot;always thought they were too cool and always wanted one but never did get one.I'm glad yours is staying in your family.Bob

Pap,

Young Bradley can tell his family of all the wonderful times that he will have. God Bless that he travels safe and spends time occasionally with you both on your piece of paradise. Nice fire and a big sky! A very lucky young man.
