Hello Everyone,
I’ve been somewhat collecting knives like your typical benchmade, spyderco and similar knives for awhile. Recently I discovered Randall knives and have been obsessed ever since. I joined the Randall collector club and I’m wondering what books or reference guides I can and should have to learn what I can about various RMK?? I seen a reference book published years ago selling north of $500. Can I get some suggestions moving forward with my Randall obsession.
Thank you for any advice
Sam Prosser

You can start with these, the main books to have.

1) Randall Made Knives The History of the Man and the Blades by Robert L. Gaddis. **Note this book is a must have, the "bible" if you will.

2) Randall Knives in Wartime Robert Hunt
3) Randall Military Models Robert Hunt
4) Randall Knive Rare, Unique, and Experimental Robert Hunt
5) The Randall Chronicles Pete Hamilton and Tom Clinton

There are a few others authored by Wickersham, Beaucant, and Silvey - Knives of the Viet Nam War

Go to Mitchell Harrison's, tunefink on the Forums, website.
He has the Randall Knife Society newsletters, the shop catalogs through the years, and other information there.

As Joe Dorsky, crutchtip on the Forums, posted above, the Gaddis book is the best individual resource.
Welcome to the forums!

Pete Hamiltons' book, "The Randall Chronicles" is available from www.clintonknives.com and the Randall shop, I believe.

I have a copy of Gaddis's book that has never been opened, I have it sealed in plastic. I have one of Sheldon's as well.

Thanks everyone
The short amount of time I’ve been involved with trying to get up to speed on Randall knives I’ve never have come across a finer group of people. I would like to thank everyone who gave me great advice and will follow up on all of it. I found the “Randall bible” and ordered it. I’ve actually had email corespondents with Gary from Clinton Knives and he was so kind and gracious with his help. I will try and earn my way into this group by holding up to the high standards I’ve seen and the respectful treatment I’ve received by all involved.
Thank you

Welcome to ya Sam. I believe that you’ve already been given plenty of great reference materials and won’t add any; don’t really know that I could without it being redundant anyway. I would encourage you, as David said, to look at getting the old RKS newsletters. I know that these were available on CD and you’ll perhaps still find that to be true. Just lots of great reading, and a place where I first started learning about Randall’s and really enjoyed talking with Rhett about them when stopping by his and Janie’s last store. And, like Sidney, I’m pretty sure that I have some extra copies of some, if not all, of these books if you can’t find them elsewhere. Looking forward to seeing you post your first Randall sometime.
