I posted this in the Stoddard's thread , but it should be here as well.
Can anyone tell me if all Stoddard's knives were marked in this fashion,or were they some sort of limited edition, I can only find info on there special, which became the SGT.

George,

That grind looks like a 19 not the Stoddards grind. They look only somewhat similar IMO. Could have been stamped Stoddards due the non sharpened top bevel, MA laws. In fact in the other thread Peter posted a Model 1 with the same stamp again most likely to distinguish it with a false top bevel to comply with MA law.

No, your right Warren, it is a 19,that much I know, I just can't find any info online about this engraving, did they have all there other Randalls engraved this way, or was there some sort of limited edition or something. I know the Dealer special was different from this, and later became the SGT. Peter does have a #1 with this same engraving, which makes me think that maybe all but the dealer special may have been engraved like this. I would think someone at the shop would know, after all they made them.

It's certainly logical to say that standard catalog knives sold through Stoddards had to be marked to differentiate them without the sharpened top bevel. Seeing Peter's Model 1 in addition to your 19 kind of explains it.

True, it would seem so, I just wanted to know if anyone knew for sure, guess not, I would rather know than assume, but sometimes you just have to take what you can get.

Was most likely something specified by the dealer at that time of order. You could get anything etched on a blade. I don't know if the shop would remember why. It's just my best guess.

The last couple of orders from Stoddard's were etched that way with USA underneath their name on all the blades....

Well thankfully we have the answer. I was a bit off base but it explains dealer orders.
