Referencing Dwight's photos of his knives in another thread "The order changeth to new...."

These two sheaths clearly show the contrast between HKL (Heiser) and Johnson brown button sheaths.

The knives are clearly made during the same period, a short one, where for lack of a better term a 'transitional" choil (almost early Solingen like) shows up between the 50's-early 60's style sometimes referred to as "fish hook" and the later shallow rounded style when Bo made a change to the wider ricassoin 1963 (Gaddis}. So in my opinion, this choil was used probably beginning in later 61 early 62 into probably early 1963 when the change was made. Of course consider there was some overlap here. Note that most of the documented knives from 1963 I recall as I sit here were of the shallow rounded choil variety.

Nevertheless, the sheaths are a good study. Note the completely different shape, particularly evidenced in the toe area, clearly cut using a different die. The HKL has a wider profile. Also note the stitching is different. The model 5 is in the Johnson, the model 1 in the HKL. The leather appears different between the two sheaths also.

When viewing the rear of the sheaths, the stitching is clearly different again not only on the body of the sheath but on he butterfly as well.

There are a couple other traits that seem to separate one from the other that I can get into at another time.
