After just getting my 18 I noticed the front tooth or two does not come up quite to a point like the other teeth. They are blunted a bit.

I know that each of these knives are hand done and all have their own personality traits, but is that a normal one?

Thanks!

No expert here but a photo would help, I am sure that if there is a fault with it then the shop will fix or replace it, but it is unlikely to be a fault if you bought it from them as Scott checks each one before they leave,.

Ok I will try to get a photo up this evening when I get home from work.

I bought a Randall knowing these minor variances are in play and if it bothers you then buy a diff brand. Just want to make sure this falls under that.....

THX

It's fine and I receive them, just as you described, from time-to-time. Worry about something else. I figure it just reduces chances of the first few teeth getting chipped!!
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris

The first couple of teeth are sharpened when we put the final hone on them and draw the appearance that they are "flattened", when in actuality they're just sharp!!

By the way, Jason and my worst cuts that we have had at the shop have come from honing model 18 Sawteeth!!

To add, I can tell you that they are indeed flatter than the other teeth. Yes they are still sharp, but there is no illusion that I can see - they are flatter. Tattoo Bills photo shows this pretty well. In person it can be seen too. Capt Chris also stated he gets some in.

Sounds like it is normal? So gonna move on, but just want to be clear that they are flat(er) than the others.
