Was the Smithsonian bowie ever built with 7 spacer and stag? I would think that it would have been, but I've had my eye open for one and can't seem to find any examples. Am I searching for something that doesn't exist? Or are they just few and far between? Thanks guys.

I do not know. I would hazard a guess that it has happened in the distant past though. There seems to turn up a few strange builds at times. Hang on for a better answer from some with real knowledge!

Thanks Shoot870p. Hopefully someone will chime in with some information. Even a brief answer or a point in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Yes, I've seen some from that era........just not so much with spacers.
Being a tool steel knife I see the smitty then and now with metal spacers & collars.
Also the piece of stag for a Smitty has to be bigger than what you see on other models.
The first smitty in the model 12 listing has stag, but not the spacers & it's a brass back if i'm remembering right.

Thanks Chief. That helps a lot. I am just drawn specifically to the stag with 7 spacer for some reason. It just seems "right". I will just have to keep my eye out and have my wallet ready when I do spot one!
