This is a good topic to get started but before I get into a summary of what might be seen from the GATORS this year lets be proactive and ask a Moderator to move this to The GOOD Lounge before it gets moved anyway cause there isn't any RMK content with this discussion.
Looking forward to a great discussion.
Respectfully

WOW! That was quick!
Florida GATORS 2010
After 4 years of Tim Tebow this edition of the Gators will be quite different.
I will do this in separate posts starting with quarterback.
John Brantley - Junior
From Rivals.com
Ht:6'3" Wt:190 lbs 40:4.64 secs Shuttle:4.41 Vertical:29 inches
The following was the scouting report on Brantley from Rivals.com when he was recruited
Brantley is a very smooth signal-caller with excellent feet and top-of-the-line accuracy. He has adequate zip on the football and throws one of the best deep balls of anyone in the 2007 class. He's patient in the pocket and has the feet to get outside the rush and throw on the run. He needs to fill out quite a bit physically and his level of competition is in question, but his mechanics are solid and he is accurate on all the necessary throws. Brantley has good instincts and knows exactly when to release the ball on timing patterns. He leads his receivers very well and puts the ball in position for them to do the most damage after the catch. He's physically tough and can take a hit, allowing him to play some option in college as well as tuck and run when needed. A leader in the pocket, Brantley is very confident and doesn't panic. Brantley can push the ball at times when trying to get into tight spots and his arm strength isn't his strength, but he shows great follow-through on passes which leads to his accurate touch and he gets the ball out quick.
Brantley is a pure quarterback with an NFL type arm and quick release and as a side note, Brantley broke all of Tim Tebow's Florida high school passing records. Brantley is already considered one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC.
Look Out - Here Come The GATORS

Good point Tom. Either we can get this thread moved or maybe Doug would be willing to start a new one in the Good Lounge where we can have at it for the next 23 days Looking forward to hearing what you have to say 'bout them gators... especially since my guys will hopefully play them twice this year (Oct 2 for sure and then maybe again in the SEC Championship) <<Good grief ! that was quick. We moved while I was typing this response>> I agree that Brantley looks good. I've heard lots of great stuff about the kid. It's gonna be real interesting for me because my Tide has all new (and inexperienced) DB's and they will get back to back doses of Ryan Mallet followed by Brantley. If they get through that, they should be ready for anything else that comes along...

Tom, "Johnny Rocket" is up to 215 pounds now and can still move. He's on the Maxwell watch list, but being the legacy that he is, he'll come back next year.
Urban will plug in a lot of freshmen during the season. It's gonna be a lot of fun to watch.

Hey Pappy, I believe we need some kind of small gentleman's wager on the VT vs. Broncos game. I know Frank has my Hokies locked and loaded. GO TECH!!

Ed,
That game on Oct. 2 is sure to be the National Game Of The Week and unless the Gators blow away every opponent prior to the game and the Tide doesn't do the same I would think the Tide will be favored to win, I know I would give them the edge but there are too many unknowns at this point in time.
If McElroy picks up where he left off last year he could be scary good, I knew after he finished up the Auburn game the way he did that it was going to trouble for the Gators.
Ingram and Richardson are in a league of their own and I think Richardson may prove to be more dangerous than Ingram. BAMA is going to be tough this year there is no doubt about that and it very likely will be the Gators and the Crimson Tide in the SEC Title Game with the winner playing for the NCAA Championship again.
You never know where it will end up but that's why they play the games.
Best wishes to all the teams, I hope everyone stays healthy and we have some great football.

You're so right Tom... Oct 2 is probably gonna generate a little interest ... The Tide was obsessed all of last year with getting back to Atlanta for another chance at Fla. I'm interested to see if the Gators bring some extra motivation with them into BDS this year. Regarding the SEC game, I definitely DO NOT like the idea of having to beat Florida twice to win the conference but I can't say that losing on 10/2 seems like a really great strategy either . I'm thinking Fla fans probably feel the same way about Bama.

I agree, my old Case knife against a nice Randall of your choice. After all, Boise State is just a bunch of nobodies that couldn't make it at the "big" universities, so even though they have us at #5, we will still be the underdogs.
Pap
PS-How many points you given' me?

Ought to be a great season opener and my bet is it will be a close one, Pap.
My wife is a UT Vol grad and college football season is always fun here.

Well Pappy it's still awfully quiet on this thread, so I guess I'll respond to myself. Looks to me like my VT Hokies have been picked pretty far back from those Boise Boys--both in the rankings and the point spread. However, being as you asked, what the heck--I'll still give you 3 points. So this now gives your boys about 6+ or so.....Who knows 'till the game gets here. A guided whitetail &/or gobbler hunt in VA to a guided elk &/or whatever fishing/hunting trip in Idaho is what I'm laying on the table. Either way I'd feel like we both win (not really-just had to say that 'cause it's on the "nice thread"). Also, while I'm at it, sorry for all you Florida boys but we'll take out Miami and FSU before we leave the ACC and meet up with you little gators later ("ceptI'm afraid the tide will roll you over first).
We only raise bulls, no steers, on this Blue Ridge Mtn. farm--got no need for that extra blade. What say you?

Duke-
Your bet sounds like a good one to me, so consider it a real wager. And you are right, either way the game goes, we are both winners with our wager.
When you say that you only raise bulls, does that mean registered bulls (if so what breed) or baloney bulls. I had a buddy that went from cow/calf to baloney bulls about 20 years ago and has made a fortune ever since.

Well Pap I'm eating fresh crow pie tonight. Those cowboys AND their coaches gave the Hokies a good whupping. Plan to come east soon for a fun cooking, camping(farmhouse) hunting good time!

PM sent. Our Bronco's were lucky this time. Great game, no crow involved.
