Tom, Wayne & anybody else that wants a "FYI" on Abigail's hunt:
I sold the entire T/C rig after that hunting season for a variety of reasons:
A) Not very accurate
B) Not easy for a kid to operate with cockin' and un-cockin', etc. etc.
C) The "caliber"!!!
Yes: She shot that buck and he laid down and died....(& it's a good thing)...because:
A) She shot him a little high and broke his back
B) She shot him a little far back.
C) The inept 300 Blackout never exited the body.
....If that buck could have run off, we would have "never" been able to find it. With no exit hole and leaking way-high on the body, that buck would have covered a lot of ground before any blood (if ever) would have been found!
I'm an "06 guy". Y'all know that. I bought the whole rig so that a lefty could shoot it well. Abby can shoot! She has proven that to me, both on the range and with her (several) other does she has killed before this buck. 300 Blackout (In my opinion) is a 100 yard cartridge. I sighted it in with the Winchester "DEER" factory load for 300 Blackout. Quite disappointing!
Best, Capt. Chris

Capt,
Glad that all worked out OK.
Sorry to hear that the Blackout was not up to par for the task.

I know of one person who uses a Blackout in an AR (suppressed) for coyotes. Seems that the caliber is up to task for that.

I just received the latest issue of One Good Shot, the publication for the Thompsson Center Assoc and was glad to hear that TC is now family owned and will be up and running with everything USA made.

Shoot,
From what I understand,T/C will be using the original tooling and some upgrades but it will be the same great products.

One of the bbls I have for my T/C Contender is a 14 inch 22lr match BB: with a Burris scope on it.

From a rest,I can shoot dime sized group at 50 yards all day long.

What 22 ammo brand do you use in your match barrel?

Pap,
Believe it or not, standard Federal HS Hollow Points are the most accurate in that bbl.

It is what I use for squirrel hunting when I choose to go the T/C route.

I also prep the rounds by giving them a light lube with SPG black powder bullet lube.
