Thinking we should have been collecting the books as well as the knives!

I have a couple of Bob's books that he, Pete, I think Scott and Gary signed for me.

Along this line, I had an RKS hat signed by everybody who was available at the time, including Pete and Gary and a bunch of dealers like Gaddis and others who agreed to sign it for my "cause."

It auctioned for more than $400 on eBay, and the money was donated on behalf of an SF Colonel I had known and worked with off and on for years.

I assume that the cause and the nostalgia of the hat both helped to push up the bid.

There was a Special Fighter hat that the shop signed that got auctioned off here to send supplies to our military in Iraq as part of the special fighter program we used to run.
I have to say when we had all parties that are now banned it was aggravating to the moderators but the "discussions" on the finer points of Randall made knives....
Really had the new folks asking questions and peaked their interest and caused some killer questions & started a lot of what is pinned at the top now.
I miss it....I feel that the new people miss a lot that is stored here.

Chief--

When I log in and see that 50, 80, 100 or more are online at the time, I think that just maybe many folks are benefiting from the legacy posts and associated information. But not actively posting.

Which is still good because it sustains the interest in RMK and the knives.

Sometimes on sites like this less knowledgeable people might not want to ask questions or post something because they don't want to risk what reads like a rude response from others.

A couple of thoughts about that...

First, people have lots of contacts here who know RMK knives forward and backward, and they can PM them to ask questions.

Second, when we write stuff in places like this, it can come across as being harsh when if we were talking to the other person it would be stated different and sound different.

I am just glad that the recent risk of the Forum being taken down went away.

You are one of the many good folks on here, and you always speak softly!

Thanks Larry, I appreciate the kind words.

I have been a problem here in the beginning for Tune & Ron when they were the mods.
I learned to appreciate the issues of moderating when Tom & I were doing it.
When we had 6-10 people commenting on a question we really covered it well.
Not trying to change anything just remembering.

I would take that as an indication the direction the hobby - collecting, or user world is going in regards to RMK knives.

A good sign, IMO.. I hope that it continues.
