Way back when, there might have been one or two "tinkerers" or knife makers who could take a factory knife like a Case and modify it into a lock back.

Think H. H. Frank as a craftsman with the skills to do it, although I don't know specifically that he ever did.

But the cost would make it out of line for a beater knife.
