pappy19 Knife Enthusiast Registered: 10/31/07 Posts: 7386 Loc: Garden Valley, Idaho	After the recommended suggestion to try Rancho Gordo beans, I bought their sampler pack. So yesterday I made their "golden eye" beans using their basic recipe on the package: chopped bacon, onions, garlic, celery, carrots and seasoning except salt. In addition, I used a teaspoon each of vege and chicken "better than bullion", which has salt in it. Cooked in my #6 Griswold Dutch oven for 3 hours at 300. They turned out great and I was impressed. Not the same as the Bonita pinto beans, but very tasty nonetheless. I have 5 different beans from Rancho Gordo to try in the future. I fried up 5 gallons of Catfish fillets, french fries, onion rings, and hush puppies. My brother smoked a Brisket and all the ladies fixed up some delicious sides. (The majority came straight from their gardens.) The Homemade Ice Cream on a hot day might have been the best, especially with my Mama's chocolate cake or my wife's peach cobbler. She did not take a close up picture of the butter beans, cream peas, squash, creamed corn, new potaters, green onions, and Home Grown Tomaters.
