I don't know that it fails, but I think I'd rather have my gun in leather. I guess hard plastic can't hurt any part of the gun, I just imagine some sand or grit getting in it and scarring up the finish. The Blackhawk does look like a well designed piece of kit, though.

Pat, I've used the Serpa in the photo for a few years now in the field and on the range - no more wear than leather, actually maybe less. Nothing wrong with good leather though, got a few of those too.
I guess we're all entitled to our opinions Chief but I wouldn't go so far as to call it BS. I use that holster almost every weekend in the warmer months and I have no visible wear from it. If it tore up the finish, I wouldn't use it.
