Hello everyone. I am brand new to the forum and just acquired my first RMK. It is a stag-handled Model 1-8. I don't know much about Randalls, but I've wanted one for years and have been lurking here for a while. I picked it up in a trade and feel I made a pretty decent deal.

The knife came as you see it, with no box or papers. The blade does not appear to have been sharpened but the edge is somewhat dull. There are marks on it indicating that it has been in and out of the sheath, but not actually used to cut anything substantial.

One of it's owners carved the date "1-17-89" on the back of the sheath's belt loop. I wonder if this was the date it was originally received from the factory or if the knife is older. Maybe some of you can help.

And here it is along with a Father's Day present from a few years back. The Blackjack Trail Guide was my first stag handled knife. They make a nice pair.

Meh92 welcome to the forum. I think you will be able to learn a lot from the fellows around here. Before I read your statement about the date on the back I was dating your knife to the late 80's or very early 90's as this sheath was made by the late Johnny Johnson and he died in about 91.....I think. It's a beautiful knife and a great one to start your collection with.

The etch on the sheath is spot on....1989.
