I am very sad to report that we lost another great one in the Randall community family...

Doug Cream ("Silverknife" on the forums) passed away tonight after falling and receiving a head injury...Doug underwent surgery to relieve bleeding on the brain, unfortunately he was unable to recover from later complications...

Doug single-handedly supplied almost all the Silver hilt, spacers and buttcaps for the RMK community for years. Doug and Rick Bowles were great friends and collaborated on many knives. He was an avid Yankees fan and we went head to head for many years...

Gail and I spent a day this past spring with Doug and Jean-Marie in Tampa for a cook-out...I am feeling such a loss...

I am sorry to hear that.

I did not know him personally, but appreciated his work.

Please pass my and others' sympathy to his family.

Larry

RIP Doug.
The few times I dealt or spoke to Doug, he was always helpful and informative. We have lost a big part of the RMK community.

Doug and I shared a passion for Randall knives and he provided the silver for my Narwhal collection.
His accomplishments were many - as a scuba diver, as a machinist, as a lawyer, Assistant New York State Attorney General, as a Commodore in the Coast Guard Auxiliary, recognized as 2021 Auxiliarist of the Year by the U.S. Coast Guard, and as a resource for Randall collectors.
He had a very quick wit and I was proud to call him a friend.
He granted me the title of Operations Manager so that I could attend the SHOT show with him and benefit from his vast knowledge.
He and I combined our Narwhal collections and displayed them at the Blade Show's RKS displays.
I last saw Doug at the Lakeland Show in Florida, last January.
We paused our conversation for a bit, agreeing to get together later during my stay in Florida.
I am sorry that we didn't manage to do that.
My salute to a friend, a sailor, and a great person.
As the Capt. said, Fair Winds.

Doug was one of the first people to extend a hand and share his knowledge and contacts with me when I became a RMK enthusiast.
We have stayed in touch over the years & I have been a guest of his to talk knives & life from time to time. Hard to believe he is gone.
Makes me look back over my time in our RMK world, I have had the pleasure of being friends with many great people, sure is tough when we lose one.

I did not know this man, but having read your tributes I thought I would share something I read today...

"When you feel the loss of a friend, their memories become a treasure." ...unknown source
