Just finished this one. The Brulé Skinner.

Blade: 3" of O1/A203E Nickel steel Damascus.
Guard: O1/A203E Damascus
Handle: Thuya wood with Steller's sea cow spacer and end cap.
Sheath: Brown bridle leather, double stitched.

Looks very nice.
I had to look up Steller's Sea Cow.
Looks a lot like a Manatee.
How did you get the material?
It looks like the Sea Cow is extinct.

Yes David, the Steller's sea cow is extinct. It lived in the Bering sea and was hunted remorselessly by the russians during the 17th and 18th century I believe. I also believe Alaska was then still a russian possession. In the end there were so few Steller's sea cows left that they reached the extinction point.

Mineralized bones and ribs still wash ashore in Alaska and are collected and sold on the international market. I bought mine from a Danish supplier.

I have a knife made in the U.S. that they put fossil Stellar sea cow on.
