Cleaning some of my Behring Knives

The most amazing largest piece of Narwhal needed an amazing knife. James did an amazing job on this 3/8" thick 15" Scimitar two handed Narwhal knife. This beauty then needed the best from Mudbone Jones a Celtic Dragon Sheath.

Comparison photo for size comparison to Smitty and Sasquatch.

James has associated himself with extraordinary sheath makers.

The beauty of his collaborations with these artists are the wow factor that the sheath adds to his knives.

This one is a re-handled M1914 Elsener Schwyz Swiss made sawback bayonet. It measures 18" long with a Crown Stag handle with an exquisite Amy Warlander sheath. I traded for this one with Warren.

Behring Made Set Rosewood Burl pinned with checkering Goliath (12") and Southwest Bowie Fighter Pair. Copper engraved sub-hilt engraved FWI spacer and FWI bolster. The hammer-mark blades and etched finish define the set. Rowe Sheaths. James nailed this one from my initial sketch he had it all the way!

Okay, got me looking for the original Nessmuk knife.
Interesting history.

George Washington Sears (December 2, 1821 – May 1, 1890) was a sportswriter for Forest and Stream magazine in the 1880s and an early conservationist.
Sears was born in Oxford Plains, Mass., Dec. 2, 1821, the oldest of 10 children.
A young Narragansett Indian named Nessmuk (meaning “wood drake”) befriended him and taught him hunting, fishing, and camping. Later he took that name as his pen name.
Nessmuk favored a “trinity” system of cutting tools, his little double bit hatchet of his own design, a light fixed blade and a substantial Moose pattern folder.
Nessmuk’s views towards knives are arch-typical of the classic outdoorsmen; he preferred thin knives, keen edges, and a useable length.
The Nessmuk knife has recently regained popularity as a great little knife.
Its ergonomic shape and deep belly make it a great slicer and many prefer it for food preparation.

Hatchet and Knives preferred by Nessmuk

Thanks David for the research and to all!

James Behring has made some of the most extraordinary knives in my collection. I wanted a larger style Nessmuk, I like big knives LOL. These two knives go to Mudbone Jones for sheaths next; can't wait to see what he does! Pic's will follow when I get them in hand.
