Great photos as usual, I am a Stihl man myself. I have kevlar chaps for when I saw and can highly recommend them, fortunately never needed them, but could save your life. I also have Quikclot, just in case

The "snake" is really just a recent snake shedded skin. Doen't appear to have been a pit viper so probably a black snake or indigo snake. A rat snake would show some blotches even on a shed skin, IMHO.
