Welcome to the forum KENKAN!

I think, a 5" blade is long enough on a model 4.
And 'the good old tool steel' fits a starter nicely IMHO.

Yeah Cap he's real dang old!!
But he hangs out in a cool gun shop. Imagine walking into a gun store and finding Ken there with a bunch of Randall's strung out on the counter selling them to some dude. I wish I had been the dude but I walked in about 5 minutes too late.
Ken please put a rush on that Colt .22...crank those guy's up and tell em they have got to increase their production.
Btw you ought to see what came in the mail to me today. Here's a little hint....made in 1943 and absolutely beautiful.

My vote would be a 6" O1 blade standard grind, brass single hilt, brass spacers, stag handle with a brass butt plate and lanyard hole.

Nice knife Matt..."BUT"...(There's that word again) the purpose of the "starter set" is to limit options and build a base for a collection. If everyone wants to trick one out then that's what we'll do. Although it wasn't the original intent of these builds, I'll build whatever we agree upon as a committee.
How about this, Crew: Let's start this starter set with a "ROLL CALL". Vote for one of the following:

A) Model #4 / "5" inch blade
B) Model #4 / "6" inch blade
C) Model #4 / "7" inch blade

Let's hear from ya'll. After we have decided on "which" Model #4 we're buildin'...we'll work on "how". Thanks to all for your suggestions thus far.
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: Photos are encouraged...CCS

I think, if you'll check the first 3 starter set knives, that the #1 & #2 were leather and the #3 was stag. Actually, I like the idea of stag on hunting knives. There would be no purpose for a "build" if we were strictly looking for standard catalog models. I think so far, Matt, we have limited the options to 2 or 3. We'll see what happens.
Thanks, Capt. Chris

I vote for
B) Model #4 / "6" inch blade
I think you don't need anything longer on a hunting knife

thanks
