O.K. Crew:
While we're all scrambling to find some custom micarta for our "Harley build" how about our "Starter Set"? Next in line is the Model #4. This one will be interesting because there are so many blade lengths offered. How about this: Why don't we break this build down into 2 sections. Let's concern ourselves with the larger (1/4" stock) Model #4's for now. We'll tackle the 4 1/2" lightweight one later on. After all, we ain't going anywhere!
Model #4 "Big Game and Skinner" is offered in 01 Swedish tool steel or stainless. Blade lengths vary from 5,6 or 7 inches in length. As with these previous builds, we are not concerned with a ton of options by rather in finding a nice example of the model #4 to "start" a collection with.
Let's hear your thoughts. Thanks for your participation.
Best, Capt. Chris

Capt, As far as lengths I like the six inch for a real user friendly blade. I have a Uncle that lives out in Co. He loves his for breaking down Elk. Stainless for a real working knife with easy clean up. That's just my 2 cents. Thanks Capt.

Here is a nice #4-6 # 6 grind with compass, it has one more option than can be ordered now since the #6 grind is now chargeable on the model 4.

The #4 has such a nice curved blade! I would vote for a 6" length and stay with
the original grind. Maybe even stay with the good old tool steel!

Yes I do...KenKan. Everyone welcome one of my best and oldest customers, an avid Randall collector, huge supporter of all things "Randall", and a good friend.
Good to see ya' post up. Thanks, Capt. Chris

Stainless 6" blade with normal grind gets my vote.

As much as the smaller blade would be useful, let's not forget that these builds are "Starter Sets". To me that means someone is putting a collection together, not just a user. So with that in mine, I'd like to build a model #4 with a 7 inch blade. Go big or go home as they say.

KenKan, welcome to the forum! New blood is always appreciated around here.

Capt, I'll go with a stainless six inch blade.
