Capt.

Slab side stag looks great; however, many Loveless knives have riveted side slabs. Are rivets a possible addition. If you can do rivets are they available in a finish other than brass?

Regards,

Tom Flynn

No rivets. I think the purpose for the "rivets" were to hold the slab sides on. They were actually either pins or bolts in most cases...Either way> That's a "no" at the Randall shop.
With todays epoxies simple pins are all that's needed. The pins keep the slabs from "shifting" if knocked sideways, while the epoxy (if used properly, and the inside of the scales and the knife tang are roughed up a bit) does not let the scales turn loose.
Best, Capt. Chris

PS: Here's a "SCARCE" Model #10-3". The scales are pinned and epoxied at the shop. The scales are old NASA brown G-3 that was left over from all of the Challenger Mission Memorial handle material. The shop made this knife about 3 years ago. (The "Mission Memorial" project has taken a good bit of time to accomplish, as you can see)...CCS

Give ya 200 bucks for that model 10 seen lot's of em. But hell I know you are in the business. So I'll give you an extra 10%.$ 220.00 If you sell me this I'll pay the fees for it even tho it wasn't listed as for sale. Just PM me where to send the check, I can't keep up with all your moving around. Oh yea the check will be written on the east bank of the sawtooth river. May take a while to clear but don't worry it is good.

Somehow I have missed this thread altogether? The 25 is my favorite mod. of all the Randall's. I also like the 26 just about as well. I would be happy with a 25 with a 5 inch blade and stag with silver. The 26 with 4 inch and silver with slab sides sounds really nice also. I think either one would be a great addition for anyone's collection. I would even think about using either one of these.

How about a roll call for the following: Choose (vote, if you will) which Randall model you would like to see built. Although this started out referencing Bob Loveless it does not have to be made as close to his design as possible. The Randall Model #26-4", "Pathfinder" would probably match that bill. There are a whole bunch of folks who consider the Model #25, "Trapper" their favorite Randall.
Let's decide on what we are going to build. Not "how" we are going to build it, but which one?? Vote for:
A) Model #25-5", "Trapper"
B) Model #26-4", "Pathfinder"
Let's see if we have enough interest to undertake this meaningful project. I have been reminded that there doesn't seem to be a great bit of swirl around Bob Loveless' passing. Could be...We can still build a nice knife, echoing his tastes...
Best, Capt. Chris
