Another hike this morning, not to warm to start. We went on a flat trail for a while and then up a short but very steep hike to the top of the ridge. On the flat in the sunny spots were a lot of blueberries, and there was quite a few piles of bear scat with blueberries in them on the trail(picture attached). I heard some rustling in the brush about 20 yards away and briefly saw the head of a decent sized black bear who disappeared quickly.
I also saw the shed skin of what was likely a rattlesnake in this rocky section. A nice hike and the first bear that I saw this year.
Not bad for a Sunday morning.

Peter

Peter,
Nice shots!
I spent my morning in a kayak. I'll have to get the picks from my buddy in a day or two!

Thanks Tom and Tony

I love being in the woods and it is great when you get to see a Bear or other large game

Greetings, it was a little cooler today, but a bit humid and buggy, but we went out for a short hike early.
We kicked out one deer on the trail and I saw two young deer cross the gas line cut but could catch them on film. Still a lot of blueberries around and I sampled a few.

Finally it wasn't too hot to take the boys hiking. It was overcast with a good bit of breeze so it was more comfortable than you would expect for August. We got out for a nice hike. Blueberries were still plentiful, but a lot were getting dried out, lots of ferns and a few leaves have changed since it has been pretty dry lately.
