Good idea Alan. That's "doable"...

Hey Captain,

A pair like that would be an awesome set. Wouldn't the L.V. add a bit more heft to the knives as compared to Ironwood or Micarta?

A "bit" more weight? Perhaps a "bit" more but not too much. Lignum Vitae is quite dense but IW is heavy also. On a full handle you would notice the difference more than on a "center", especially on a Model #26 where the center piece of wood is not all that large.

Hey Captain,

LV sounds like a perfect handle material. It's an exotic local wood, super tough, outdoor use doesn't phase it - I only see the upside of having this as a handle material on these knives.

I've never had anything with Florida LV, but I made a walking stick from Argentine LV. It is an incredibly tough walking stick that really can give religion to a snappy sled dog.

I say let's go with LV as the handle material on this build.

Cheers,

There we go, Alan and Chad like the LV handle insert idea? Let's go with it, what does everyone else think?

Lignum Vitae is one of my absolute favorite handle materials. It is "push-button-automatic"! "BUT" (That word again) why are we only talking about a #25 styled handle on the #26? Unlike a Model #25, the "Pathfinder" could have a full piece??
Something to think about??
Best, Capt. Chris

Can slab sides be had with a wood handle?

Tony,
Are you speaking of slab sides on a #26...or slabs like on a Model #10? 10's yes. #26...No. Only certain models can be ordered with a flat (or slab) sided handle.

Ok.
I thought from your post of 9/8, that slab sides on a #26 was doable.
I misunderstood.
