I think all black spacers might look good on this one but since that wasn't an option I'll go for

A) Brass & black spacers

My vote is A, black and brass.

I have a few knives with black and brass spacers and they look great.

C or D. If you look at the past builds we seem to like brass and Red and brass and black. These are nice but also pretty common these days. Lets make something different. I have a few Randalls with brass and brass scalloped and people who think they know Randalls are often amazed that this a factory option. It's the little things that set a nice Randall apart from A whoa nellie that looks great. My demented 2 cents worth.

I hope you are alright cause You seem to think alot like me.I'm certified crazy now. Except the VA doesn't think so. Everybody else does. My civilian DR.s say PTSD, the VA says no. I could use my disability upped just a little to like 100%. Get a free fishing license and one set of free car plates. Oh yea!! My Advocate says I'll get it someday. Most likely just after I die.

Free is good. If I can help with the certification, let me know. All my kids think I'm nuts.

I'm cashin' it in for the night. With all that's been goin' on I forgot to get back on this. If somebody can get the "body count" we'll proceed tomorrow (well..later today).
Best, Capt. Chris

OK. From 9/22 ...
Quote:
We're gonna build the following:

* Randall Model #5-8", Camp-n-Trail
* 01 Carbon steel blade
* Thumb notches
* Brass single hilt (Squared top)
* CW (Ringed Gidgee) supplied by Graham Rogers
* All brass hardware (to be determined)

SO...We have to decide on a couple of things. After that I can get these specs into the Randall shop and we can enjoy the fact that we built a helluva knife! One of the things left un-decided is what type of brass hardware to finish this knife off in. We also need to decide on handle shape.
At present, we have only used "ONE OPTION" (Custom supplied wood / ringed gidgee). We are going to use one more option when we decide which type of brass spacers we use. Perhaps another will get burned on the brass butt cap. Yet another possible usage of our allocation of options could be used on a brass butt cap or plate. I personally feel a butt cap will help to balance this knife..."BUT"...I don't care what we build. That is up to you. Anyway you swing it, this #5 will be splendid. If we decide on red/brass or black/brass and a brass end we "still" have options left.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. How about a "ROLL CALL" vote for spacers. There are 4 choices:

A) Brass & black spacers
B) Brass & red spacers
C) Brass collar
D) Scalloped brass collar

Just a small word of caution, with regard to collars. You will be limiting your future choices of handle shapes and/or overall diameter by choosing one of the collars. That's it...Let's hear from ya'...and thanks for your participation.
Best, Capt. Chris

Here's my count ...
A) Brass & black spacers - 6
B) Brass & red spacers - 0
C) Brass collar - 2
D) Scalloped brass collar - 0

Steve Crawford voted C or D
